American Art Deco

Book with Pop Up This is a redesign of Eva Weber’s book “American Art Deco.” The designs for both items were inspired by the movie posters for The Great Gatsby and the city line in New York City, where the Chrysler building is located. I used both sources of inspiration to build the clean and geometric style that Art Deco is well known for. I chose font styles influenced by the Art Deco movement for headers while pairing it with the Futura type style because of its common use in the 20s. The complementary scheme of purple and yellow (royal purple and gold) keeps a sense of elegance that the Art Deco movement is well known for.
